Breakfast had plenty of options, with good choices, and everything seemed well kept. The view was beautiful too. My room was tidy, although it seemed like it had once been more luxurious: there were lots of loose threads and little details out of place. Some bathroom amenities had already been opened, including one empty box, which left me feeling a bit unsure about how clean things were.

I wanted to sit on the bar patio with a beer, but after two hours I was still thirsty and had to track down someone just to pay. I ended up ordering Uber Eats. This is a very dated place that badly needs updating. The rooms are basically for sleeping and showering: my bathtub had no drain plug, and there was no mini-fridge or microwave for restaurant leftovers. There's no pool or fitness center, and you can't buy bottled water there, so bring your own. The TVs are about computer-monitor size, if you planned on watching anything. Just sticking to the facts of the experience, which I cut short, so you know what you're getting.

The towels put in the bathroom each day smelled strongly of vinegar and frying oil. The rooms didn't smell very good either, though I don't know why.

The staff were quite efficient, but the hotel is badly outdated and in desperate need of renovation. Our first room had a strong cold tobacco smell, and after we changed rooms, the damp, musty smell was no better. The rooms are noisy and poorly soundproofed; the corridors smelled of old furniture and dirty carpets. Towels smelled of oil and vinegar, and there was no bathroom ventilation. The buffet was generally bland, and many dishes ran out quickly. The location isn't ideal either, beside a freeway and on the other side of Coimbra from things, so guests need a vehicle. It's a six-minute drive, but public transport or walking takes over an hour. With a hotel this outdated, I'd expect the staff to be efficient.

It's a decent place, but a little removed from everything. If you know that going in, it's fine. The attention could be better.
