Hotel Bragança

It's a convenient spot for an overnight stay or a city visit, with everything you need a short walk away. The location is great and the staff are friendly. The rooms are comfortable, though the place is somewhat worn and dated. It also has a time-capsule feel, like stepping back a few decades.

A good option for families, with rooms that have more than one section. The hotel is well placed across from the main train stations and near the River Mondego. Breakfast is weak, with instant coffee, few bread and cereal choices, and nothing hot.

For my $41 night, I felt I got a little extra for what I paid. The room was small but comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and the bathroom had excellent hot water pressure and basic toiletries. Service wasn't especially smiley, but they were helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was free and more than enough, better than at some hotels I've paid two to three times as much for. The small CRT TV still had several international news and movie channels. The location is very good for local sights and especially convenient if you're arriving or leaving by train in Coimbra. The walls are a bit thin, so a noisy neighbor could be annoying. For a one-night stay, the good points still outweighed the bad.

The location is perfect, and the room was a good size and clean. Breakfast had limited options, but enough for a normal meal. The building and furniture are quite old.
