Hotel Alvorada

We stayed for six nights and there wasn’t much to complain about, though the bathroom had neither a towel rail nor a door hook. The cleaning was on time, and the kitchen staff were friendly and helpful. I used Google Translate to show them I appreciated their kind gestures. A big thank you to the young receptionist who was there on our last day. Our hired car company let us down at the last minute and didn’t show, so he called a cab for us. He was excellent and gave us lots of information about what to do and avoid if we visit Portugal again.

The location made it easy to explore, with the train station nearby and a pleasant walk into Cascais. The room was very clean, and it was cleaned to a good standard each day. Towels were clean too. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was good. The room itself was odd: lots of space, but a tiny bathroom. There were hardly any power sockets, the TV faced a mirror, there was no kettle and only four wardrobe hangers. The shower over the bath was powerful, though the fittings were old.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and there were plenty of staff around to keep things in order. Parking spots were roomy too. If the spaces out front are all taken, ask reception for the code to get into the underground parking. We had a great stay. The hotel is affordable and close to the beach.

We’ve stayed at this property twice now, and the location is fabulous. The rooms are very large, with balconies that are great for watching the sunrise or looking out at the ocean. The morning views are amazing. They say these are the best dawn views in Estoril, and I’d have to agree. The beach is a short walk away, and the elegant casino is right across the road.
