Casa de Mos

We spent much of our time quietly taking in the mountain scenery. The house sits in a beautiful natural setting, and the silence made it a lovely place to rest. I hadn’t known Fafe before, and I liked it a lot. There are walks nearby, interesting towns to explore and the pleasant river beach at Ermal, close to Mós. The two-storey house has two welcoming porches and traditional furnishings with some interesting decorative touches. The foosball table gave us a lot of fun, and was the only noisy part of the stay. Outside, the pool is a good size, with appealing corners for eating. There’s also a barbecue, though we didn’t use it. The owners were kind and always available.

The view and the quiet were the good points. Otherwise, there were centipedes inside the accommodation, in the bedrooms and living room, and lots of spiders in the pool. Opening the windows without mosquito screens may let even more in. Getting to the place and parking were very difficult, and one bathroom was extremely small. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone late in pregnancy. The only way between the bedrooms and the kitchen and living room is up or down a tall flight of stairs, which made resting less pleasant along with the other issues. The beds also seemed very small, I think about 1.70x1.35, which made it hard to sleep well, especially for a tall person. We were told the baker would bring bread in the morning, but that never happened.

It’s a pleasant house and a nice place to spend time with friends or family. The pool water was clean and well maintained, but there’s room for a maximum of two cars, and parking takes away the terrace space for playing ball. The toaster doesn’t work, and the coffee machine works poorly. I’d rather have a dishwasher than a washing machine. The mattresses are quite firm, though you get used to them quickly. The bedroom air conditioning either only blows cold or won’t turn on at all.

The view is lovely, the house is beautiful and it’s generally well cared for. The approach may make less confident drivers a little nervous, but it isn’t dangerous or risky. A few small things need attention. The oven didn’t work, and when we called the owner, we were told to "look on YouTube" for a fix, which didn’t feel professional or kind. The barbecue was very dirty, and there could have been more pillows. Despite all that, the place is beautiful, peaceful and well put together. I don’t plan to return.
