Senhor Gigi

The surrounding buildings had construction going on, and the drilling and hammering were awful. We were usually out after 8.30, though, so it didn't get in the way of our stay. The apartment itself was airy and atmospheric, with original tiles, especially in the bathroom, and a small garden terrace. The lovingly restored historic building is beautiful, with high ceilings, a lovely curved staircase and a marble-tiled entrance in the communal area. Maddalena was an excellent hostess and very attentive on what's app. The facilities were excellent, including a washing machine and dryer, and lovely toiletries. We're in our late sixties, and having no stairs in our apartment was an advantage. The location in the center of old town Faro is fabulous, and there's no need for a car. Hope to be back.

There was tea and coffee making equipment, plus water in the fridge. The central location was great, and the mid 20th century building had been nicely restored.

We got plenty of suggestions from the host for things to do and transport to the beach. The guesthouse is right in the city center near the port, so getting around on foot is easy. Rooms are spacious and good value, and check-in was really straightforward. Sadly, we didn't get to meet Senhor Gigi himself :(

The room was much bigger than I'd expected, and both it and the building were very clean. It had a super king size bed with good quality linens, and I slept extremely comfortably. There was a kettle, tea and coffee, and a fridge stocked with water. The room was stylishly presented, and it's clear the family who own the business make an effort to help guests feel at home. I also noticed beach umbrellas on the ground floor, a nice touch. The location was central on a quiet pedestrian street, 5 mins on foot from the bus station and 8 from the rail station. I didn't meet the owner, but her communication was exceptional. My Ryanair flight was 3 hours late, and the entry codes for the building and my room had already been sent, so arriving after midnight was no problem.
