The Editory Ocean Way Funchal

The breakfast had plenty of good options, and the hotel was a great base for seeing the island in different directions. We stayed ten nights with our young child and felt welcome from the start. The place is new, thoughtfully designed, quiet in the rooms, and very comfortable. Everything was spotless, the beds were great, and the rooms had all we needed. We made good use of the facilities: the heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room, plus the rooftop and outdoor pools. The staff were lovely with our child, and Mikaela and Francisco were especially kind and helpful. Thanks to our club membership, we were upgraded to a spacious suite, which made the stay even more relaxing. We really appreciated the thoughtful gesture and would love to come back.

The team helped us plan excursions, and we had a wonderful time exploring the island because of their recommendations. Breakfast and the spa were both great, and dinner at the hotel restaurant was amazing too. Our room was very clean and had a large balcony with a beautiful ocean view. Housekeeping did a great job, including an evening refresh. We arrived about two hours before check-in, but they were able to get us settled without any trouble. The welcome bottle of Madeira wine and dessert were a lovely touch. We'd happily return.

We visited in February, when it was very quiet, and paid about €870 for a week for two people, so the value was really good at that time of year. It's outside central Funchal, but Bolt rides are very cheap and take around 10 minutes. The hotel felt new and clean, with excellent rooms and a good spa. Breakfast had a wide choice, and the WiFi was fast and reliable.

The rooftop seating was really comfortable, with a fantastic view out to sea. Wi-Fi was fast and worked perfectly for emails and work. I also liked the sauna and heated indoor pool, including its water pressure features. The hotel has a modern, attractive design and feels very comfortable. My bed was large and new, and I slept well. Mikaela was especially helpful and answered all my questions, while the staff were very friendly in general. Breakfast was excellent, with very good quality food. My only small suggestion is to keep the heated indoor pool open a little longer. I'd gladly stay again.
