Sul Villas & Spa

Breakfast was delicious, with lots to choose from, and there was food available throughout the day, which made it easy to grab a snack whenever we needed one. The staff were kind, attentive, and very helpful. Our rooms were spacious, and the whole place looked beautiful, especially the pool and setting. It’s in the middle of the island, so getting to the sights was straightforward. We loved staying at Sul Villas and would come back on our next trip to Sao Miguel.

We loved how spotless everything was, and the rooms with private pools overlooking the ocean were a real treat. The service was impeccable, and there was even a little gym, surprisingly well equipped with weights for a proper workout. Santa Cruz village has a nice small-town feel, while the location made it easy to explore the whole island. We couldn’t have asked for more.

I arrived without any activities planned, and the staff helped arrange everything for me. They were lovely and even made my birthday stay memorable by surprising me with a cake. I was there for three nights, including my birthday. The views are great, and the setting is peaceful and relaxing. There’s a good range of food at the restaurant, and it was delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough.

The spa experience was bad, and management’s response made things worse. We were surprised by how poorly the issue was handled, especially after enjoying so much of our stay at a hotel we thought was very highly regarded in the area. This was a once-in-a-lifetime trip that we’d saved a lot of money for, and we left with a bad taste, mostly because of management’s handling of it. If we’d been treated respectfully and there’d been any attempt to put things right, we would have recommended the hotel. There was plenty we liked: the decor and location, our villa with its private pool, and the relaxing stay. The main pool area and dining room both had beautiful ocean views. Check-in and poolside service were very good.
