Carvi Beach Hotel

The staff were very helpful, and breakfast was very good, with eggs, potatoes, bacon, hot beans, cold cuts, sliced cheeses, pastries, and pretty good bread. A small beach is down some stairs from the street, and a beautiful long boardwalk follows the ocean cliffs past several beaches and two good restaurants. The location is great, though another hotel blocks much of the ocean view, so get a higher floor if you want to see the water. Rooms are small, with cramped bathrooms. We’d probably come again, but would have to factor in the very long walk into the city itself.

The rooftop bar and pool were great, and there’s also a good pool table downstairs. Staff were helpful throughout. We appreciated having a fridge in the room, and even though we weren’t directly over the water, we still had a view. The balcony was handy for washing and drying clothes. It’s a two-minute walk to one of the Algarves’ most popular beaches, with great boardwalks and photo opportunities along the water. Town is about 15 minutes away on foot. The car park across the road has plenty of spaces, but it fills up quickly, so arrive early.

The room was the main letdown, with a strong mildew smell. Breakfast was only okay because the eggs and sausage or bacon were cold. The staff, though, were friendly and very helpful, even arranging a boat trip for us. The hotel’s best feature is its spot right beside the beach. The walk to the old town didn’t bother us since the boardwalk along the beach is quite scenic.

The restaurant food and staff were fantastic, and the service overall was great. We stayed for three nights in March 2026 and had four beds. The location is fantastic too. The pool was clean, but cold. I’d stay again.
