Racing Mackerel Hostel

The hostel is small, clean, and well located in the centre of Lagos, close to the beach. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and I’d stay here again. The kitchen is roomy and well equipped, with a washing machine and a balcony for drying clothes. Rooms are a decent size, though the beds don’t have curtains. The women’s toilets and showers are squeezed into one very small area. You can lock the doors for some privacy, but the facilities are really tiny.

The location made it easy to get everywhere, and the whole place had a cute, home-like feel. The facilities all worked well, and the receptionists were really helpful. Great for a short stay, and I’d absolutely come back.

The shared bathroom setup is awkward for two people, since the toilet and sink are in the same space. One person could be using the toilet while the other brushes their teeth 😅 There’s a bar downstairs that stays open late, and doors start slamming early in the morning, so it gets noisy under the windows. Earplugs made it fine for me. The rooms are nice, and the kitchen has a fridge, stove, and washing machine.

This is a wonderful hostel and I’d highly recommend it. My only complaint is that they should send guests the information at least a day ahead. The staff were very helpful.
