We booked that same day and received confirmation through booking.com. While we were on the way to the hotel, the owner messaged to say the booking wasn’t valid because there was no room available. How can that happen? Now it may take up to 12 days to get our money back from booking. No customer service at all.

The rooms were clean, the owners friendly, and the location quiet. If you’re athletic and enjoy a workout, you might even like the climb. Getting there meant going up a very dark, creaky wooden staircase, though. For Americans, it’s really five tall floors, not four, since the European ground floor is 0. We booked three nights, but my wife has a bad hip and we didn’t make it past the first day. There’s a no refund policy. I asked Catarina if we could get back at least one of the remaining nights. She said she had to check with her sister, but I haven’t heard back. Hm, wonder why. So it goes.

Everything was very clean and the girls were nice, but we still had a really bad night. The rooms were much smaller than the photos had led us to expect, and the bed felt small for two. The street outside was extremely busy even at night, so it was super loud.

My booking was canceled just as I was nearly there, after I’d already paid for a taxi. They blamed Booking.com, but neither they nor the guesthouse offered any real help. I lost time and money, and the whole thing was awful. They need to manage the property better and learn what customer support means.
