Hotel 3K Madrid

The pool was a letdown. It’s tiny and you have to reserve a spot, which I can understand, but the water was dirty and I didn’t feel comfortable swimming. The rest was quite okay for the price: clean rooms with decent space and a bathroom that isn’t cramped, friendly staff throughout, and a good breakfast. The distance to the centre is good too, so it works fine as a place to sleep and use as a base.

The hotel’s main plus was the location, about a 20-minute walk from the city centre. For the price, though, our recent stay at 3K Hotel was a disappointment. The room itself had several problems: uncomfortable beds, a TV and air conditioning that didn’t fully work, a loose lavatory seat, and a shower screen too narrow to keep water off the slippery bathroom floor. Although we’d requested a twin room, we were given two single beds pushed together with no gap, effectively a double. We also got only one key. Reception asked for a deposit for a second, then didn’t return it at checkout because of an oversight. Service was poor as well. We were refused glasses in the lobby for drinks we’d brought, and staff seemed reluctant when we asked for ice. When they did provide it, it came in small paper cups, which felt inadequate. I’m disappointed with both the accommodation and hospitality, and hope the hotel acknowledges this complaint and addresses the issues for future guests.

The front desk guy spoke really good English, so there was no confusion. There’s a large waiting area where you can relax before a flight, with strong Wi-Fi and power outlets. Before check-in, free large lockers let you keep your bags secure. This was the only hotel on my trip with a “disinfected” tag on the toilet bowl, which I appreciated. The air conditioning was strong, and the room had a mini fridge and medium-sized safe. It’s uphill from Picoa metro. There’s no laundry there, but a laundromat within walking distance may take cash only. I didn’t try breakfast, though the breakfast area looked well managed.

The staff were nice, especially the cleaning team, and our room was always clean. Breakfast was good, with lots of options. I cut my toes on the window somehow 🙃, so don’t relax in bed with your legs in the open window. The hotel isn’t too far from a bus stop, if you like walking. Probably one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.
