We could only stay one night, but we really liked Cais do Sodré Guest House. The suite was tidy and clean, the bed and linen were super comfortable, and they provided a coffee machine, water bottles, and amenities. It's close to the centre and Timeout market, but quiet enough for a good night's sleep. We got detailed self check-in instructions as soon as we booked, and the digital codes worked perfectly. A few things could be better: the sound insulation isn't great, the internet was very slow, and the TV only had 10 programmes, all in Portuguese. There was no waste bin in the living room, and the building's front door was a bit damaged and stayed open most of the time. Still, it was a four-star experience. Thank you!

AVOID. BED BUGS! I was bitten all over my body during my stay. The property denied having bed bugs and insisted I had brought them in. Since bed bugs typically travel in linen, that seems very unlikely to me. I think the cleaner may have brought them in while changing our linen, but the hotel denied that too. My whole body was bitten, and doctors said it was one of the worst cases they'd ever seen. After we reported it, the property should at least have investigated properly and thoroughly cleaned everything so future guests wouldn't suffer. Instead, it seemed that would have taken too much time and money. Guest safety and health should always come first. Security is another concern. The code the property gave us to enter the building didn't work, and another guest's code didn't work either. Rather than fixing it, they gave both rooms the master code. We had to email and urgently ask them to change it so other guests couldn't enter our room. I'd give them a zero if I could, but one is the lowest rating.

Very clean and comfortable, and ideal as a weekend base. There's plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, along with a metro station and a train station.
