The restaurant was a great end to the trip. I had an especially memorable chat with one of the servers about a hoodie I'd bought at the market outside that day. It stood for saving bees and mental health awareness, and we connected on so many levels. I can't remember the gentleman's name. The steak, salad, and rice were amazing. I ended up staying four extra days in Lisbon after a transportation strike unexpectedly canceled all my flights last week. I'd booked three nights at The Bessa Hotel, and it turned out to be exactly the comfortable, welcoming place I needed in a stressful situation. Martim at the front desk was wonderful from check-in to departure, taking care of things and even helping with a small key card mix-up that we ended up laughing about. His professionalism, friendliness, and real care for guests made the hotel feel special. What started as an unwanted extension became one of the best parts of my time in Lisbon. I'll stay at The Bessa Hotel again next time and recommend it to anyone looking for great service and a lovely guest experience.

The room was fabulous, with a pullout couch, a main bed, and a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower. We had a lovely view over the busy street. For this location, I couldn't ask for more. You're right in central downtown Lisbon, with metro and bus lines and usually an elevator just a short walk away. You can see them from the windows, and get anywhere in the city from here. The service was phenomenal. As an American traveling overseas for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the staff were so good. Room service changed the sheets daily, the front desk helped us find our way around, and everyone in the bar was friendly. Rute and Paulo served us plenty of Sagres. Thanks for putting up with us loud Americans! Can't recommend this hotel enough.

I'd come back to this hotel for its design, not for the service. Staff need to acknowledge people when they arrive, and the restaurant team overall wasn't good. I did enjoy the food, though. The burger wasn't great, but the octopus and prawns were good. There was one friendly guy working at the restaurant on Thursday. I didn't get his name. He was off Friday and Saturday, then back Sunday. Keep him around.

Good value for money, and a stay that felt above average for a four-star place, close to five-star. I'd come back, but I'd only pay for their best room, since that's what I stayed in this time.
