Be My Guest Lisboa - Hostel

I ended up there by chance, and the people were genuinely kind and helpful even though I wasn't staying at the place. They were fully booked, but offered to call around to help me find somewhere. Thoughtful, caring service, and they made sure I was safe and comfortable. That's very different from places that just turn you away in a politically correct way. The guys deserve a big 10 from me 😉😁

This was such a lovely ending to my trip in Portugal. The owners keep the guesthouse and rooms clean, tidy, and well organized, and the place is peaceful and quiet. It's close to the airport, about a 13 minute walk or 5 minute Uber ride. My first floor room was really nicely designed, cozy, and clean. João was especially kind and accommodating. I called from the airport because I was arriving before the 3pm check-in while they were still cleaning my room. He said I could leave my bags and go explore or get lunch. My Uber booking was giving me trouble, so I took a taxi, which also took longer than usual. João checked in to make sure I was okay, then waited outside to help me sort out a credit card issue with the driver. He even walked with me halfway to the airport, so I'd know the way on foot if I couldn't get a ride the next day. The owners are very hospitable, and being near the airport is a real plus if you have a long layover or an early flight.

Breakfast came in a package, which was a clever and really nice touch, though I missed having hot drinks like coffee or tea. The hostel itself was comfy and clean. The bathroom on our floor was out of order, so going up the stairs each time and waiting for a free bathroom got annoying.

No 24 hour reception, which was the one drawback. Everything else made this the best hostel I've stayed in: the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen were impeccably clean, the staff were helpful, and the location was perfect.
