Casa Portuguesa Chiado 25

The location was great, but that was the only upside. We stayed in March 2025, three adults in the 3 Bedrooms Deluxe Apartment with balcony on the fourth floor of a lovely building with no elevator. The apartment looked as if someone had only given it a quick tidy. There was dust and debris on the floors, hair on the sheets, and the bedding clearly hadn't been changed. The furniture was old and worn, the headboard finish was peeling, and the towels that were supposed to be white had turned grey. It was really disappointing, and dirty sheets could be especially unpleasant or risky for anyone with sensitive skin. I contacted the host, Ricardo, but received an automatic reply telling me to message another number. We were in Lisbon to enjoy ourselves, not spend our time chasing them about cleaning after paying a lot. A couple of days later they offered to send cleaners, but we were out sightseeing and didn't feel comfortable letting them into the apartment with our belongings and passports there. They left a bag with a couple of Pastéis de nata at the door instead. After we checked out, another Ricardo called and kept me talking for over 30 minutes, mainly trying to persuade me not to post a negative review. I told him I was describing what we had actually found. He said he would return the cleaning fee, but a month later there was no refund and they had stopped answering my messages. For this price, I'd stay in a hotel instead.
