The castle and all the lively bars and terraces are close by, and there’s a taxi stand and tram stop nearby too. Just be ready for some seriously steep hills around here. The apartment itself is a welcoming little place in the heart of Alfama, tastefully decorated and equipped with the essentials, including a good kitchen, washing machine, and roomy shower. Getting in means dealing with a narrow doorway and steep stairs, with no elevator.

You’ll need to tackle a few hills and stairs to get there, but that’s part of Lisbon. Once there, it’s a clean, pleasant, practical apartment with a kind owner who’s happy to help. A great base for exploring Alfama, the historic part of the city.

The apartment is in the middle of Alfama, so little shops and convenience stores are handy, though the steep steps and narrow lanes come with the location. Inside, it’s lovely, clean, well looked after, and feels practically new. The owner is very kind and pays close attention to what guests need.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the old part of Lisbon is right there. The metro and train are about 10 minutes away, but keep in mind it’s uphill. The apartment has been renovated nicely in an old city building and works well for a long weekend. For a longer visit, the small windows and a little dampness make it less comfortable.

The hostess is lovely and friendly, always willing to help and make sure guests are comfortable. The apartment is in a beautiful spot in beautiful Lisbon. A wonderful place, highly recommended.
