We only stopped because we happened to be walking past, and it turned out to be our best meal so far. The staff were welcoming, portions generous, seasoning spot on, and prices fair. Definitely recommend it.

On our first day after flying in, we went here for lunch on our hotel's recommendation. The food was fresh and tasty, portions were good, and prices fair. It was full of locals having business lunches or meeting over lunch. We had no reservation, but the owner kindly found a place for the three of us at a long table with two gentlemen. They were friendly, and we ended up having a lovely conversation. One of them, the older gentleman, heard it was our first time in Portugal and offered all three of us a glass of what he called the very best Douro Valley red wine. The younger man even apologized for the cold weather we'd had. We were jet-lagged and didn't properly thank the older gentleman for his kindness. He had a bottle reserved in the cellar, so we guessed he came here often. If the owner or someone who knows him sees this, please pass along our thanks. Their warm welcome really touched us.

I came back later to try the octopus rice and fish rice, so I have to update my review. The food here is all so good, and this has become the place I stop at most often. Last time, the boss even treated me to a glass of muscatel. The grilled Portuguese whole octopus leg was amazing, and the pasta portion was generous too. At first I thought the prices were high for Lisbon, and the amount of octopus felt a little disappointing for what it cost. Dessert was decent.

The prices were reasonable, and the food was great. They were swamped and looked a bit stressed, but still treated us kindly and worked with what we needed.
