Go Hostel Lisbon

There’s a really nice courtyard, and the Wi-Fi works well in the rooms, though there’s no connection in the common rooms. The staff were neither especially good nor bad. The hostel is fairly run down and needs repairs, and I wouldn’t recommend it in winter because there’s no heating throughout. Summer would be a better time to stay.

The décor mixing classic touches with modern, eclectic paintings of Lisbon's sights was something I loved. Our private room was roomy and practical, with air conditioning and a TV that played DVD, USB and SD Card. The hair dryer wasn’t very effective on my long hair, but I was glad it was there. Breakfast was good quality and had the basics, including drinks, bread, jam, honey, butter, cake, cheese and ham, as far as I can remember. There’s a fully equipped kitchen for guests and a bar where you can get a beer. Recommended, great value for money.

The breakfast was old bread with no toppings, so I wouldn’t call it breakfast. The hostel was shabby and really dirty, and the staff were unfriendly. I asked for directions and they just waved me away.

I checked in on Sat 7th expecting to stay until Thu 12th, but they told me the place was closing for good on Tue 10th and I’d have to check out that day. Has anyone else been told this, or was it just me? There’s nothing about closing on the website.
