The big green space in the city was lovely to explore, with lots of peacocks and ducks, and even cats 😻. The Japan garden was closed for construction, though nobody seemed to be working on it. That’s why I gave it 4 stars.

We spent a couple of hours in this peaceful, beautiful garden in the middle of magnificent Lisboa before heading to the airport. There are free lockers by the entrance for luggage. You need a 1 euro coin to use one, and get it back when you open the locker. They’re small, but fit things like a backpack.

We only explored a small part of the park during the off season, though I’m sure the rest is gorgeous. The grounds were beautiful, if a little untended, and you can see the suspension bridge and the Christ the King statue. We were there for a wedding.

Nothing here really stood out to me apart from a dead pigeon. There are nicer parks in Lisbon, and for the entrance fee I expected this one to be better maintained.

My wife and I enjoyed spotting the big trees and learning about some of their natural defenses. It made for a great walk, though be ready for the uphill walk back.
