Goodnight Hostel

I loved the vibe here, and it’s my favourite hostel I’ve stayed at. Everything was super clean and the people were so kind. The free sangria each night was awesome and made it easy to meet people. I was lucky to get a cave bed in the female-only dorm, with my own little nook. Seriously, I couldn’t recommend this place more.

It was very clean and neat, and fine for a couple of nights. The beds are arranged in a strange, very exotic way. I was in a nine-bed room and the air felt a bit stale, with not much ventilation. The bathroom is shared with the floor, which felt a little insufficient, but it was manageable. All in all, it was okay.

The cleaning staff were all nice and did a good job, and a few other staff members were good too. The Brazilian guy making breakfast was super cool, the Bengali receptionist was cool, and breakfast was okay for 5 euros. The location is very central, though right in the tourist-trap area, which isn’t the nicest. The rooms and toilets were clean. I don’t mind pressing buttons for water; lots of places do that to save it. My feelings about the rest of the staff were mixed. Some seemed annoyed to be doing their jobs. The Brazilian woman at reception barely explained things and looked permanently irritated whenever I asked a question. The tall Brazilian guy acted friendly and hovered around the women trying to hook up, inviting everyone to have sangria with him. When he wasn’t the centre of attention, though, he’d shout and kick everyone away. The laundry machine was broken, and he didn’t know anything about the area or have a solution. Do you even live in Lisbon? There was also a Slovakian? girl who seemed to live at the hostel and looked annoyed when guests did things around her.

Being in the city centre has its upside, but this spot is really noisy and it was hard to sleep. The building is quite old and the walls don’t block sound. Good only if you’re partying.
