Hello Lisbon Bairro Alto Apartments

We had the top-floor one-bedroom apartment and everything was great. The location is right on the famous 28th line, close to bars but away from a bar street, so it wasn’t very noisy. We didn’t see any cockroaches, luckily. When we accidentally locked the safe, a very sweet and professional lady came to help after we called. I definitely recommend it.

The apartment was roomy and insulated well against both outside noise and temperature. Check-in and checkout were automated, and arriving late at night was fine. The hotline was always reachable. But there were cockroaches roaming around, something we might have known from earlier reviews if we’d read them before booking. The furnishings and decor were low quality, and the road to the apartment is narrow, often blocked by a car parked in the middle, with several trash bins along it. It didn’t feel like good value for the price, though Lisbon in general is like that.

The location was good, but the entrance was blocked by a car and garbage bins, and the people handling calls and WhatsApp weren’t friendly. Most people we met in Lisbon were kind, just not the customer service staff for this apartment. Inside, there were cockroaches running across the kitchen table and in the bathroom. I felt sick and, since I had to stay, wished I could have cancelled as soon as I arrived. The furniture and decorations seemed like something from a two-star hotel, which shocked me.

I don’t understand who’s writing the good reviews. There were cockroaches all over, in the kitchenette, bathroom, on the couches, even under the bed. A café below the apartment played music all night, right through to 9 a.m. The bass was so heavy that earplugs didn’t help, and the sound shook your bones. Support and the police did nothing about the complaints. After three nights, I felt like I was going to kill myself. I also got no check-in information and had to spend half an hour trying to reach someone, then another half registering on some site. There were a few positives, but they didn’t come close to making up for this. Not recommended at all.
