Hermitage Castelo - Casa Chafariz

We stayed on the first floor from December 20 to 26, 2024. The room was modern and comfortable, with good appliances and a great shower. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the location was excellent, with good transport connections and lots of nearby sights, restaurants, and bars. The main problem was how cold the room stayed. Even with the built-in heater set to 24 degrees Celsius, it never got above 15 degrees indoors, and nights were very cold. We raised it with staff, who had someone manually set the maximum to 25 degrees, but it made little difference. The hotel should fix the heating in that room. Relatives on the top floor had no heating trouble, while others on our floor also complained about the cold and were given portable heaters, which helped. The building is old, so the walls are thin and we could sometimes hear people walking on other floors. Otherwise, the stay was fine.

Beautiful, stylish, new accommodation. There's a bus stop and supermarkets right across the street, plus lots of nice restaurants nearby. The neighborhood doesn't feel too touristy.

We were a family of four with two teenage boys, and the sofa bed in the lounge was surprisingly comfortable for one of them. The apartment was modern, very comfortable, and well equipped. AC worked really well, and there wasn't a thing to fault inside. The location was excellent, with several good local breakfast places on the street, a coffee shop opposite, and food shops nearby. Time Out food market is a 10-minute walk away. Bernardo and Sonia were friendly and very helpful, with good recommendations and help on a few other matters. The apartment was on the top floor, and the stairs up to the first floor followed by a lift worked well. We'd absolutely recommend it.

The stairs just inside the entrance are very steep, so take care there. Beyond that, it's an excellent place for two: spacious enough, spotless, and well equipped. The location is convenient in an interesting area, opposite Fauna & Flora for great breakfasts and only a few metres from an independent coffee shop and a couple of small convenience stores.
