The location is attractive and fairly handy for getting around, and the price is low. One room even has a limited sea view, which I appreciated. Beyond that, the place fell well short. It seemed understaffed, with only the owners on duty when I was there, and the accommodation itself had plenty of problems. You have to ask for towels each time. The shared space felt cramped, with just three bathrooms and one kitchen for everyone. Hot water ran out once, there wasn't enough crockery or cutlery, and the sheets still had obvious old stains. The bed bugs were the deal breaker. No matter how cheap the stay is, I can't recommend risking it. Don't bring family, especially children. Have some self-respect and skip Verde Esperança. It felt like a nightmare.

Maria, who works there, was super friendly. The room was spacious and had a balcony, and there’s a basic kitchen with a microwave and kettle. The area itself is great, fairly quiet, with inexpensive local restaurants and pastelarias nearby.

If you're in party mode and only need a cheap bed and shelter, this might suit you, as long as you expect nothing else. The bargain comes with very little: strange hairs on the pillow didn't bother me, and hot water seemed completely random. Also, if you want to check in late, say 20h00, don't be surprised if nobody is there to open the door. You pay little and get even less.

The location is good, but the old house is very worn. The bathrooms are broken, there are problems with warm water, and the rooms weren't clean.

The location is good, and for the price the room was fine for a few nights. It's basic, but the bed was normal and there was a window.
