The owner was kind, quick to respond, and easy to communicate with, and the hostel is spotless in a handy central spot in Alfama for seeing Lisbon. But for €125 a night, I didn’t think it was worth the price, especially with so few amenities. There’s no coffee machine or tea in the room, and the bathroom supplies are very limited. Breakfast was a letdown too. There wasn’t much, the cheese and ham were low quality, and the scrambled eggs were really bad. I picked this place because I like supporting small independent businesses, even though other hotels were cheaper. The place is clean and well located, but the price doesn’t match what’s offered.

Dawa made my first visit to Portugal feel easy. I was traveling alone as a woman, and she welcomed me when I arrived at Hostel Petit Lusa, then became my unofficial guide. Her hospitality and professionalism were outstanding, and she’s a big reason this was my best hostel stay so far. The location is hard to beat, and I felt safe walking around the neighborhood. After a full day exploring, I came back to a clean, safe room. Breakfast was simple but filling enough that I didn’t need to eat again before lunch. I’ll stay here on my next visits too, and there will be more than one. Thanks, Petit Lusa and Dawa!

The staff were quick to respond, and let me leave my luggage there for about five hours after checkout. The location is excellent, within walking distance of Lisbon’s main sights and very close to the train station. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with quirky, cute decor. Breakfast was straightforward but tasty, with the usual continental choices. I’d happily stay again.
