Intendente 1865 Apartments

We had a very good five-night stay. The room was spacious, clean, and looked after, with a comfortable mattress and pillows. Staff were consistently kind and happy to help. It’s centrally placed near the metro, so getting around was easy, though I felt the area could be a little unsafe at night. The rooms are basic and there’s no mini fridge or TV, but they worked well for a short visit.

Getting in and out was simple with the self check-in and checkout, and the staff were easy to reach. The room was lovely and really clean, with a nice bathroom and AC. There’s plenty of shopping about a 15-minute walk away. Lime scooters were often outside too, and they’re cheap if you want to get into town faster.

We never stayed at the property, so I can’t speak to the rooms or other parts of the accommodation. We booked it through Airbnb for a company retreat, then cancelled as soon as we got the address and looked into the area and other Google reviews. When we raised the mold concern, the host wrote that mold could appear in winter because of wet weather and condensation in closed spaces, as can happen in a city near the sea and river, and said any cases they discovered had been resolved. This was never mentioned in the booking listing. For a corporate group, we couldn’t risk a place with documented mold concerns. We received the address on May 19 and raised the issue that day. Our June 3 check-in was still more than two weeks away, but the host wouldn’t cancel or refund us, which was disappointing. We had to find other accommodation at considerable extra cost. The property may suit some guests, but people with respiratory sensitivities, families with health conditions, and corporate groups concerned about liability should know about this.

We paid €75 a night and it felt like a rip-off. They were very focused on collecting the €4 per person, per night tourist fee, but I wish they’d been just as clear about what the place actually offers. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, in a neighborhood that felt unsafe to me. Our private room and bathroom were on the second floor, with no elevator. To reach the bathroom, which was in the corridor and apparently exclusive to our room, you have to get dressed and go out there. WiFi was weak and kept cutting out. There was no TV or desk, and the thin walls let us hear every movement in the hall and upstairs.
