The moment we'll remember most came at checkout. A receptionist told us she'd been at As Janelas Verdes for twelve years and remembered our previous visit. We were surprised and touched, and it made coming back feel especially meaningful. My wife and I first stayed here in 2014, on our first trip to Portugal. When we returned twelve years later, we chose the hotel again because we'd loved it so much. It was just as elegant, charming, and welcoming as we remembered, with a peaceful, cozy atmosphere and professional, warm, attentive staff. Thanks for another wonderful stay. If we come to Lisbon again, As Janelas Verdes will be our first choice.

We loved the terrace and library, with their sweeping views of the Tagus. The staff were friendly and efficient, and breakfast was generous and high quality. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, and the whole hotel is finished to an incredible standard. It's in a quieter part of town, with easy access wherever you need to go. Everything about our stay was outstanding.

The location felt a little off the beaten path, surrounded by local experiences, with an idyllic view of the water. I felt deeply relaxed during my stay and afterward, and honestly wish I could live here. Everything was wonderful, from the attentive staff and quality furniture to the comfortable mattress, beautiful library, and perfect shower pressure.

The library and common rooms were a highlight, spaces that made you want to sit and stay awhile. I especially loved the morning view from the terrace over the port and river. Breakfast was excellent too, with tasty eggs at the hot station, pastries, fruit, and several coffee choices. It was served in a relaxed common area with different seating, never crowded, and things were replenished quickly. Reception is small, but the staff were warm and welcoming, and gave us a great dinner tip. We booked this for one night at the last minute after our plans changed. I spotted a reasonable price and a location I liked on the map, and booked without expecting much. From outside, the entrance is very understated, probably a historic building, with nothing grand to announce itself. Inside, though, it feels like a carefully arranged luxury antique shop. I usually don't like that antique, furniture-heavy hotel style, but here it all felt intentional, tasteful, and restrained. There are lots of distinct, thoughtfully designed common spaces, and it never feels cluttered. Our room wasn't large, but it was laid out extremely well, with plenty of storage, a comfortable bed and mattress, a good bathroom and shower, and double-frame windows that kept sound out very well. We opened the street-facing windows and still found the room calm and comfortable. The heritage feel they were aiming for comes through successfully. I was genuinely happy with the stay. It exceeded my expectations for the price, and felt comfortable, tasteful, calm, and full of character. Highly recommended.

A really nice old-fashioned hotel, with a good location, good breakfast, and very helpful staff. The rooms can get too warm, and there's street noise. I'd still recommend it.
