The worst part was how the owner handled our complaint. At around 11 p.m. on the first night, after we'd come back from dinner and put the kids to bed, he turned up at our room with two men and a woman. They shouted that we had to leave immediately. I tried to talk calmly for the children's sake, but the owner stood in the doorway, kept yelling, and watched us pack. I felt threatened, so I called the police and wanted someone there when we returned the keys. The owner left, and his manager helped carry our bags down four flights of stairs, since there was no elevator. The police told the manager that entering a room this way was illegal, though that was all they could do. We found a nice hotel nearby and were glad to get out. The place itself was a letdown too. The website photos and description were nowhere near reality, and calling it “luxury” felt cynical. Our room was run down, dirty, and smelly. Street-facing rooms were noisy because of nightlife, and the shared bathrooms were filthy and poorly maintained. My wife didn't even want to go in. The location is fairly central, but this particular street felt dangerous at night. There was a peep-show next door, and drug dealers approached people even during the day. We made our views clear to the clerk, but didn't plan to switch hostels because it was a holiday weekend and we only had two nights and one full day. I also noticed at least two glowing Trip Advisor and Google reviews by the manager and one by the owner. That says a lot.

The staff were nice and helpful, and the location was good. But there's no air conditioning or lift, breakfast was minimal, and it was noisy outside. The old building was having work done all week. The shared toilet was unpleasant, and I had to hear some drunk guy throwing up. I also came across a cockroach in the bathroom. Very disappointing. Never again.

The view was awful, and more than ten pigeons kept us company at night. Our window wouldn't even close. There was just one shared bathroom for four twin rooms, so eight people had to wait their turn to use it. Awful.

The bathroom was the worst part. It's one tiny room with two toilets, three showers, and two sinks, with nowhere to leave your things while you shower. Water gets everywhere, so the floor is always puddled. There's no privacy, and someone could walk in while you're getting dressed. Keeping your clothes dry on that wet floor is hard too. We paid 332€ for a family room for three. The room was decent, but had only one power outlet and one ceiling light, with no small lamps. Breakfast was decent as well, though there's no proper dining area. If a big group takes the table, you're left eating on the couch with your food in your lap. For this hotel-like price, you could stay in an actual hotel or find a much nicer, cheaper hostel in the same great location.

They canceled my booking two weeks before I was due to stay and gave no reason or explanation. You may want to avoid it if you don't want your plans unexpectedly disrupted.
