Locke de Santa Joana

The rooms look great, but they're very small, and I missed having a tub. Give me a little more space and a bathtub and I might move in. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the AC worked well. I was here on a tour and would stay again if I came back. The service was amazing, the pool bar was a lovely spot for an afternoon drink, and the location was good. Having a washing machine in the room was so handy, though I'm not sure every room has one.

I had no complaints and really enjoyed the stay. The cafe in the lobby and Santa Marta restaurant were both phenomenal, and the receptionists were so helpful and friendly when we checked in. The room finishes felt high quality, and after a long day sightseeing the pool area was a great place to unwind. I was a bit unsure about being a trek from the Baixa-Chiado downtown tourist core, but ended up liking the distance from all that. I'd definitely stay at Locke De Santa Joana again if I return to Lisbon.

I've stayed here a few times and tried both restaurants. Santa Joanna is a spectacular setting. Book ahead and get there early if you can, and the meal can be a relaxed, amazing culinary experience. Santa Marta's menu was really good, but the service felt inattentive. They also need an IPA on the menu, it's 2026, for gosh sakes. The hotel is clean and nice, with plenty of room types, from a cozy solo room to options with a cooktop and full-size fridge. It's a bit pricey, but having the pool, coffee shop, amenities, and two restaurants makes it worth it on average. The building is a maze and hard to navigate, probably because of how the old buildings connect, and I'm not sure how they could fix that. The rooms themselves are fine. There's a young crowd and a chic, contemporary feel, but the energy isn't over the top. I like that it's outside the main tourist area, though you can walk into it.

I spent about two weeks here and loved having a mini kitchenette, plus a washer-dryer and even detergent. I had been wondering how I'd manage laundry, so that was a huge help. They also changed the towels daily, which felt very generous. The location was phenomenal, right by the metro and bus stops, shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and even my office. I wasn't expecting such a lovely hotel or experience. Everyone was kind, especially the reception team and the people on the WhatsApp chat. They were always so willing to help. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
