The location made it easy to walk to everything we wanted to see, and the staff were lovely to deal with. The apartment had loads of charm, too. We can’t wait to come back, and would recommend it to friends.

We had an apartment facing a busy four-lane road for two weeks, with garbage trucks making extreme noise every night. I’d asked for a unit at the back three months ahead, but that request wasn’t honored. The listed 50 square meters felt more like 25-30. It was clean when we arrived and had good equipment, though some things were worn. There was nice wall decor but almost nowhere to store anything, and no bathroom shelf. The machine check-in was frustrating, and there was no staff on site. Cleaning often took under five minutes, was sometimes poor, and seemed to get skipped now and then. The 24-hour hotline was sometimes unavailable, unhelpful, and not friendly. When they gave a negative answer, they’d hang up and wouldn’t pick up again. Average stay.

We had a lovely time here at the beginning of December, but I wouldn’t stay again because of all the hills. I’m 63, and each time I climbed the two hills leading to the steep one the apartment sits on, I thought I might have a heart attack. Then it’s on the second floor. My daughters, in their early 30s, were fine with it. It’s a decent spot near Aldi, the liberdade and Rossio. The single beds were really uncomfortable, and the table needs replacing because it doesn’t look great. Ubers were easy to get, and with three or more people that’s probably the way to go. We took the train to Sinatra and got an Uber to Peña palace, which was lovely.

The apartments are nice, but management could be more flexible about cancellations. We booked a group of rooms, then my son caught COVID five days before the flight and we had to cancel his room. They wouldn’t give him credit for a future stay. That felt unrealistic when they deal with tourists, and I’m unhappy I had to pay for an empty room they could easily have rented with five days’ notice.
