Madalena Hermitage

The owner was lovely and helped with everything we asked for. There was even a towel change during our stay. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, and cosy, with clothes hangers, mirrors, and individual lamps. The apartment itself is modern, attractive, and very central. It had all the family essentials: washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine with capsules, cooking equipment of all kinds, electric hob, and personal lighting. The rooms are carefully designed. The kitchen is a little cramped and small, but that didn’t bother us since it had what we needed to get by.

A good-value place in central Lisbon, and it was very clean when we arrived. The apartment is well equipped and definitely worth a stay. The Wi-Fi was sometimes a bit slow, and for our three nights it would have been nice to have some basic cleaning service.

The location was hard to beat, and the apartment was roomy, simple, clean, and had what we needed, including a lift and washer-dryer. We never met the attendant, but there was a small luggage room shared with other guests. Bags weren’t locked away. The bed could’ve been better, though the stay was comfortable overall. Noise from upstairs came through, usually at a bearable level. One night people got up at 2 a.m. and woke us, and we were awake until they left at 4. Communication was hit or miss, with quick replies sometimes and no reply other times. I booked on the official website, which promised the best price. Before the change deadline, I saw the price for the same apartment had gone down. I couldn’t find a way to change my booking, and after emailing, I heard nothing for days, so I gave up trying.

We had an electrical issue where the power kept shorting out. I called the landlord, and it was dealt with promptly. The accommodation was clean, well equipped, and serviced, and the lively central location was well insulated from noise. A great starting point for exploring Lisbon. I’d recommend it.
