Moov Hotel Lisboa Oriente

The hotel itself is clean and modern, with an IKEA-like look. The surrounding road and area aren’t great, with lots of empty, smashed-up buildings, though it’s not far from the river, shopping centre, and train station. What happened with my booking was far worse. Even though they had my card details, the hotel cancelled my reservation on the day I arrived, then charged me three times the room rate for one night and couldn’t provide the rest of the booking. Lisbon was very busy, so I was left walking around looking for somewhere to stay. I filed complaints, but management seemed uninterested, despite acknowledging they had my booking and card. I can’t recommend this place and will use the nearby Tivoli next time.

Good option for a night between flights. Getting there from Cabo Ruivo station was easy, check-in went smoothly, and checkout was just a matter of dropping the paper card with the room PIN and Wi-Fi code in the reception box. The modern room was comfortable, though it didn’t have a kettle or coffee maker, and it got a bit warm overnight even with the AC off. There’s a Pingo Doce supermarket very close by, open until 9 pm, which was handy.

The room was clean and modern, and the metro is very close, but the way we were treated overshadowed those decent facilities. Staff, especially the PoC staff, were repeatedly cold and dismissive with us, while other guests seemed to get a warmer response. The worst moment was being rudely turned away from breakfast when we arrived just six minutes late. A white couple who came in after us were still served, and the staff had a very friendly conversation with them at the table for another half hour. We left feeling unwelcome because we’re from India and have brown skin.

The rooms were clean, which makes sense for a new hotel, but the staff were really hard to deal with. When we asked for hot water, they told us to use the bathroom sink tap, which was disappointing. For the price and location, I expected much more.
