Pensão Residencial Flor dos Cavaleiros

We were worried by the bad reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the top floor at the back and very quiet. I can imagine the rooms facing the front get loud. The bed wasn't comfortable at all, but it did the job. Bathrooms were fine, though they sometimes smelled of sewage, and the showers were great. The rooms are basic but clean. It was pretty hot, though we had two fans, and the staff were nice and spoke English. The building felt very secure, which was reassuring with some odd units hanging around the area, but that's just Lisbon for you. I'd recommend it for a cheap night, but not a longer stay. Worth the price.

I was doubtful after reading the really bad reviews, but I'm glad I gave it a try. The hotel isn't luxurious, though it works well on a budget. The location is amazing, with lovely areas and attractions within walking distance. Our bed and pillows were comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean. It can be noisy at night, but closing the windows should take care of that. I'd definitely come back.

We got a suite with one bed and one sofa bed. It felt a little cramped, but was okay for one night, and at first the price seemed fair. The receptionist was nice and checked in all four of us quickly. The hallway had a stuffy smell and a 'Crusty Crab x Horror Movie' vibe. With the windows open, street shouting kept us up all night. But we couldn't really close them, because the toilet smelled horrible, probably from a broken gasket below the siphon. Without that smell, I'd have given it three or maybe even four stars for the low price.

The best part was leaving. The staff were cold, unfriendly and impolite, and made me feel completely unwelcome. A woman carrying towels rushed past reception without acknowledging me, even though I was there with luggage and sweating. The man at reception looked miserable about being there. The online pictures are misleading. It felt scary, and the neighbourhood was awful. I was only there for one night because I was heading north. Don't go there.
