Residencial Lord

We had booked a month ahead, but there was no room for us when we arrived. The receptionist was terrible, couldn't speak English, and didn't even try. We ended up with a two-bedroom room that was small but okay, while the one-bedroom room was a disaster. It was only 4 square meters, with nowhere for luggage, and felt scary. We had to protest to get a better room, but it was dirty and had holes in the sheets. They told us to come back the next day for another room. We waited two hours, with no receptionist there, and had to call the boss. Luckily, he spoke English. The parking spot they had promised didn't exist. The place was very loud, the environment wasn't nice, and I didn't feel comfortable. The service management was... The new room was alright, but still below our standards, just old and broken.

My partner and I left that night and found an Airbnb for the same price, but the hotel refused to refund us. The room smelled awful. We had booked based on photos showing a balcony, breakfast, and AC, but there was none of that, and not even a fan. The receptionist didn't speak a word of English and rushed us up to the seventh floor. The room looked nothing like the advertised pictures. I opened the cupboard under the sink and found moldy, rotting food, which seemed to explain the smell. The room hadn't been cleaned properly: the bedding and towels smelled awful and were stained. I asked for another room and showed the old food. The receptionist didn't seem happy about changing it, then moved us next door. That room was just as bad, maybe worse. There was black mold in the wall corners, a dead fly, stained bedding, and rubbish still in the bin. The bathroom, near the bed, smelled terrible and made the whole room stink. The toilet brush was covered in feces and old toilet paper. It was the worst hotel stay of my life, and it raised serious hygiene concerns. I can't understand how it can still operate and advertise online. Please save your money and don't make the same mistake we did.

Mikhail and Narina were very friendly, and the service was good. The room and bathroom were clean, the room looked freshly painted, and the mattress was new and very comfortable. Parking was really nearby, close enough to put the car right by the hotel door. My wife and I recommend it. We've stayed in a lot of Lisbon guest houses, and this one stood out for being clean, comfortable, well located, and well staffed.

The staff were really welcoming, which made the room's shortcomings a shame. The hotel is in a fantastic spot near the underground and has lovely period features, but that's about it. The room was average, with a strange smell coming from the cistern when flushing or showering. Fine for one or two nights, but I wouldn't stay longer.
