Residencial Moçambique

The front desk staff were the one real bright spot. They were incredibly helpful, and I wish I'd met them somewhere else. This is a residencial, not a hotel, and the rooms are badly cleaned and maintained, even by local standards. The furniture is damaged, and getting in outside reception hours can be a problem unless you have a key to the front door. The air conditioning is installed and works. I don't understand the positive reviews, because the negative ones are accurate.

The breakfast was basic, but fresh and perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean, reasonably central, and inexpensive. Still, it felt run down. My room had furniture that was more than just tired, some of it was broken. The worst part was a jammed blind, which let too much light into the room once the sun came up. It was a depressing place to stay, and I'd avoid it.

We left and went to an apartment instead. The room was tiny and smelled bad, with dirt and gaps of a couple of centimeters around the windows. There were also uncovered AC sockets, which felt very dangerous. Terrible place.

The rooms were filthy and dated, and the staff seemed very lazy. This is somewhere to sleep and leave, not spend time in. It could make you depressed.
