My room faced the reception and got pretty noisy, with guests dropping off their keys and street noise coming through the window, even though we were on the third floor. I stayed four nights in 2018 at this little hostel in an old building. The room was clean and large, with a shower cabin in the corner and a sink, both handy. The toilet was shared. There was a small TV with only local channels, though who needs a TV anyway. There’s a tiny old elevator, room for two, or maybe three at most.

The owners were very helpful and accommodating. They’re an elderly couple and really sweet. They don’t understand languages other than Portuguese, but we used Google Translate each time and it worked fine. The building is very old, yet extremely clean, and I really liked the rooms with their long shared balconies. The location is great too, with two metro stations within walking distance, including one with a direct metro to the airport.

The food was really tasty, and the service was quick and very good. Bina spoke to customers with a sweet smile and was lovely to deal with.

We stayed in September 2017, and it felt like being with family. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. I speak Portuguese, but knowing a few phrases helps with communication. Don’t forget to ask, “voce pode falar devagar por favor? Can you speak slowly please?” They let us use their kitchen facilities, including a microwave, fridge and kettle, and it was great value for money. The decor is a bit dated, but that’s part of its charm. There’s a balcony with seats where I ate breakfast every morning, looking out over the nearby districts. It’s close to everything by subway. I walked a lot because I like seeing everything on foot. I hope you’ll consider it as a comfortable, well located and good value option for your next trip to Lisbon / Lisboa.
