Santo Amaro Guest House

I arrived at 3 o’clock in the afternoon for my three-night reservation, but nobody was there to meet me. There was no key or information on how to get into the room. Another woman was there looking for her room, too. Very poor organization, a real scandal.

My boyfriend and I booked this guesthouse for a long weekend in Lisbon, but it was frighteningly bad. We left the last few days for a proper hotel because Santo Amaro Guest House was simply miserable. We did get a full refund, which was handled properly, but it’s still crazy that they rent out a room that can harm your health. The room smelled terribly of mold from the start. After a day, the guesthouse flooded and soaked our room and belongings. The cleaning staff knew about the damage but didn’t tell us or fix it. We called the owner again and again with no answer, and eventually reached the cleaning staff, who came to deal with it. They knew about the awful mold smell too, and sprayed fragrance into the room. It’s clear they’re aware of the mold and are deliberately ignoring it. The pictures also suggest the guest room had probably suffered water damage before.

A clean, spacious apartment in a good location that meets all hygiene standards perfectly. One of the best places to stay in Lisbon.

My reservation was for today, but nobody was there when I arrived. I’d been trying to reach the place for days, with more than 20 calls and voicemails, and still no one answers. There’s no other way to contact them. This feels abusive. I need an answer, since I paid for several days of my stay and can’t get hold of anyone.
