The location was excellent, and the staff kindly let us leave our luggage after check-out. The room itself was very small, though, with a balcony door opening onto a wall that left the space feeling dark and closed in. We could hear almost everything from other rooms because the sound insulation was poor. A ceiling sensor flashed every few minutes through the night and disturbed our sleep. For what the hotel charged, I expected more, and there weren’t even slippers in the room.

I wasn’t told until check-in that my room was on the main floor, and the booking site gave no indication of that. The bathroom was plainly dirty: when I sprayed water on the floor, soap suds appeared, and there were bits of black mould and soap scum left by previous guests, as shown in the photo. I asked to move and was first told every other room was sold out, even though the site showed availability. They checked again, then said they couldn’t move me, despite my offer to pay. The reviews calling this place dirty are right. Pick another hotel.

The room smelled awful, damp and like an uncleaned toilet. Being put on the ground floor would make things even worse. Staff were chatting and laughing loudly at the front desk early in the morning. The location may work well for shopping, but it wasn’t a pleasant place to stay.

The room was roomy, spotless, and in a convenient location, and the desk staff were friendly and helpful. For the price, the rest was about as good as we could have wanted. But I wish we’d known about the bathroom doors before booking. They’re glass, which felt bizarre and gave us no privacy, so whenever my partner used the bathroom I had to look away and put on headphones. The doors also didn’t fit properly, and we had a small puddle to clean up after the shower. I wouldn’t stay again unless I were travelling alone.
