Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade

You can step across the street from the hotel to relax in the shade beneath a beautiful tree. It’s a great spot for browsing high-end shops, with a Rodeo Drive in California feel, right in the heart of the tourist district. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff attentive, and the food always fresh. What a fabulous hotel.

Getting around was easy thanks to the hotel’s location and convenient transport, and shops are close by. The restaurant service needs work for a five-star hotel. My à la carte breakfast came very slowly, and I had to follow up several times. At dinner, the restaurant supervisor with glasses was extremely arrogant, which made guests feel very uncomfortable.

We were greeted so warmly by everyone, almost as if they were welcoming us into their own home. It’s clear the staff love and respect their workplace and are happy to be there. The hotel is also in a wonderful spot, close to everything. Our room facing the Avenue felt inviting and was nicely equipped. It was warm, and the modern bathroom was fresh and clean, with a lovely selection of creams, soaps, and body gels. We had fluffy white robes, brand-new towels, and the best bed linens I’ve ever slept in. The down pillows were just right for me.

Dinner at the restaurant was great, and the hotel has a lovely bar with good cocktails and Pommery Champagne! We had a great stay and I’d come back, though I’d skip breakfast. The included buffet was cold, including the eggs and sausages. The location was good, and the room and bed were comfortable, but they showed some age for the price. Our sink was faulty when we arrived, though it was fixed within an hour. The shower handle, towel rail, and toilet roll holder were all loose. The gym was so small I didn’t feel drawn to go in. It would also be much nicer if the room window opened even a little.
