The Postcard Lisbon

I booked this thinking it was a hotel, but there was no reception desk or the usual hotel facilities. The room itself was roomy and comfortable, though the mattresses felt cheap and odd. Having the breakfast room right in front of the bedrooms made everything feel too close together. The city is wonderful to explore from this good location. What really brought my rating down was the morning coffee setup: a regular vending machine with plastic cups, and dozens of cups thrown away each day. I know it’s convenient for the venue, but seeing all that unnecessary plastic felt wrong from a sustainability and environmental point of view.

We stayed four nights at this comfortable B&B, and the airport pickup they included was a huge plus. The staff were really friendly, and Luis gave us lots of useful tips for seeing Lisbon. Breakfast was okay, though the coffee was always cold and the fruit wasn’t great. I had an orange each day and they were flavorless. Still, I don’t have much else to complain about. It was a great stay, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone heading to Lisbon.

My husband and I spent two nights here. On the first night we noticed black spots on the sheets, then as we were leaving we found bedbugs in the bed and on the wall beside it. We both have awful bites all over our bodies. It’s a nightmare worrying that, even after cleaning everything, we might have brought some home. We should have paid attention to the other people who had mentioned this too.

The room and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. The bed was too small for two adults and the mattress was much too hard. There were black spots on the pillows and sheets from bedbugs, and they were all over the bed and walls.
