TT Anjos Lisbon Rooms

We ended up just putting up with the night there, but the place really should be shut down. The owner was haughty and made no effort to improve anything. The apartment itself was run-down, and she seemed to be acting in bad faith. When we arrived, we discovered we'd booked a room in an apartment shared with several other guests, not a hotel room with its own bathroom as the listing had described. That difference had never been mentioned.

The smell was so bad that I did everything I could to spend as little time there as possible. I only showered and slept because we'd already paid, and I couldn't brush my teeth in the bathroom since the sink drain was blocked, so I used the kitchen sink instead. The bathroom was filthy and badly washed, and I tried not to touch the walls or anything else in there. The sheets and the one towel my husband and I received smelled awful, so I dried myself with clean clothes I had brought. Nothing seemed to be cleaned properly, and there was nobody checking whether the place was being looked after. With several rooms, you'd think someone could check at least once a day. It's a shame, because the apartment looks reasonably nice inside and is close to central Lisbon, once you get past the awful stairs. The owner seems to have no interest in maintaining it. It was a negative experience, I won't return or recommend it. Tourists deserve at least a decent welcome.

We weren't told the bathroom, kitchen, and living room were shared with other people. The stairs at the entrance were broken and very narrow, and the bedroom had suspicious red marks on the parquet with nails sticking out. The sheets had dirt stains, and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable and infested with dust mites. Worst of all was the bathroom: a nauseating sewer smell, barely any water from the weak shower, and a showerhead in very poor shape. The shower door was so close to the toilet that getting in was difficult. Disappointing, though cheap.

We paid for five days, but the apartment was so disappointing that we had to book a hotel for the rest of our stay. The place was generally dirty, and the owner's key wouldn't even open our bedroom when we arrived. The booking on Booking.com didn't match what we found, either. Nothing in the listing said this was a three-bedroom apartment.
