Hotel Vincci Alfama

Check the negative reviews before booking. This was the worst “4-star” stay I’ve had, and I’ll avoid the Vincci brand in future. The room had a musty smell as soon as we walked in. Its layout is poorly thought out, with the shower in the middle of the room and no exhaust ventilation, so showering left the whole space thick with humidity. There was visible mold in several places. After dinner in February, we came back to a stifling 27°C room. The AC controls were child-locked, and when we called reception, staff remotely turned on the heat instead of the cooling. They seemed confused despite our pleas and never got the AC working. Eventually the unit shut off altogether. Opening the window to cool the room exposed a rim covered in thick black mold. Staff offered to move us to a sister hotel at 11:00 PM, but with an early flight the next morning, that was far too late. At least we only had to put up with the room for one night. A total disappointment.

Joana gave us recommendations that we were glad we followed. The staff were wonderful, from the breakfast team to the front desk, and breakfast was excellent. The hotel is very clean and sits in a fantastic spot in old town Alfama. If you want an authentic old Lisbon experience, I’d suggest staying here. We loved the hotel and the chain. Thanks for a memorable visit.

The staff were warm and always ready to help, and the welcoming atmosphere made the visit even nicer. Our room was very clean and comfortable, a good place to unwind after a long day. There was a great range of delicious food, too. We had a wonderful stay from beginning to end and would gladly return. I’d recommend it to anyone after a relaxing, pleasant getaway.

We found it easy to explore Lisbon on foot from this hotel, right in the heart of the city. The design is stylish and modern, but still feels cozy. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a fresh, varied buffet that was easy to enjoy. We had a great stay at Vincci in Alfama and would come back.
