The big T3 we stayed in was gorgeous, and the owners made us feel welcome right away. We also enjoyed meeting the farm animals and exploring the trails through the forest, over the mountain, and across the river.

There are just 13 stone cottages in this little village, which made for a lovely end to our trip. Each morning, fresh bread was left on our front door, and the fridge was stocked with food suited to our vegan diet. There were animals too. The stay went well beyond what we expected.

The owners were warm and gave us useful restaurant suggestions for Mafra, only about a 10-15 minute drive away. The place itself is a quiet countryside getaway, well off the beaten path. The roughly 200-year-old homes have been beautifully restored and furnished with antiques that suit rural life. Breakfast was continental and included warm bread brought to the door every morning.
