Sleep & Nature Hotel

The hotel has a lovely smell throughout, which helped me feel calm. The indoor pool was nicely heated, and there was also a small but adequate sauna and a steam bath. Breakfast was great, and so was the bar menu. I wanted a one-night spa break, and it was just right.

We drove from Lisbon without trouble, and the road from the main road wasn't as bad as some reviews made it sound. We had a Fiat500 and were fine. Check-in with Raquel was pleasant, and she explained the amenities. Room 26 looked just like the photos, which has been a pleasant surprise elsewhere, and its spot at the end made the terrace feel private. The first day was sunny, so we lounged in the hammocks near the rooms. Dinner that evening was great, with good service from Francisco. The next day we used the sauna and indoor pool, then ate there again, served by Nelson. Nice work! There was a small issue that they fixed quickly, and they apologized at checkout. Good recovery. Before arrival, they emailed to ask whether we wanted two single beds or one large bed; there was also a pillow menu, which we didn't use but seemed useful for anyone with specific needs. Booking online was fairly straightforward. We'll be back :)

It’s a good place to relax, but I wouldn't call it 4*. The staff were polite, though very slow. We tried to arrange a massage and horse riding, but the endless emails kept bringing changes to the days and time slots. The mattress was comfortable, but the bright emergency signs made it hard to sleep. The patio chairs were covered in bird shit. And the road to the hotel is wrecked. Leave your Ferrari at home and hire a 4x4. Given the state of it, they ought to offer a complimentary massage and car wash when you arrive.

The restaurant is nice, and the poolside chairs are really comfortable. We had a great stay, with excellent bedrooms and nice staff, and it felt like very good value for money. The private stretch of the unpaved road is in better shape and lit. The tractor tracks shake the car a little, but there are no holes and no risk of damaging it. The indoor pool has been unreliable in the past, so check with the hotel before booking. I don't understand the low ratings; some people seem to expect too much from an affordable countryside hotel. For us, nothing disappointed.
