The host is so accommodating, and loves sharing some of his family’s story with guests. The place feels intimate, warm, creative, and authentic, and nearly every corner is spotless and cosy. We’ve traveled a lot, and this is one of the most special properties we could wish for. If I could, I’d put my money into staying here instead of a four- or five-star hotel. We hope to come back someday, and wish the family continued success and blessings.

João was a fantastic host, always around if we needed help or wanted tips on things to do nearby. The shared garden has a lovely view over the surrounding hills, and the hotel is in a peaceful village. It’s also well placed for exploring the area. I’d definitely recommend it.

It was hard to choose between relaxing here and going out to see the sights. We had two nights, and the place made for a perfect little escape near Óbidos. The village feels as if time has stood still, and the property is a real gem. João has put his heart into the handmade art and the style of the place, while keeping its heritage and history. It has such a relaxing atmosphere. This would be a perfect choice.

The garden was lovely, and inside it felt cosy and like home. Everything is new, with a beautiful interior. Staying here was a great experience, and I only wish I could have stayed longer. A breakfast option would be nice. Thanks for having us!

João and his wife Sonia are such warm, lovely people, and their care for the house comes through in all the thoughtful little details. It’s a beautiful place, and we loved every minute. We were lucky enough to be the first guests. We picked oranges from the tree the house is named after and had fresh juice, then João brought us Ginjinha with delicious cookies made by Sonia. We’re already thinking about when we can return for a longer stay. If you’re nearby, this place is a must stop!
