Ilha Hostel & Suites

We spent four nights here and found the location great, the staff friendly, and our private room clean and well equipped. It had a small kitchen, fridge, air conditioning, and a balcony. Breakfast was fine but repetitive. For longer stays, it would be nice to have some options such as fried or boiled eggs. The towels had a strong unpleasant smell when damp, and the synthetic bedding wasn’t very comfortable. It was a convenient, decent place, though better laundry and natural bedding would make it more comfortable.

The staff were especially welcoming and gave us fantastic local recommendations. Our stay was comfortable thanks to spotless rooms and common areas. Breakfast had fresh pastries, seasonal fruit, and excellent coffee.

The shower was the one thing I didn’t like. There’s no ledge between the stall and the floor, so water eventually spreads across the rest of the floor and sits there for the day. Otherwise, I had an amazing stay. The hostel was clean and modern, with AC and electronic locks, and the included breakfast was very good. It’s perfectly located near the water, restaurants, parking, and a car rental company. The service was outstanding. I booked at the last minute and arrived early in the morning before I had my entry code. Patricia was incredibly helpful and got me settled. There are private bedrooms too, and the atmosphere seemed mostly like couples traveling together. There’s a large common room on the top floor, but I don’t think anyone even knew it was there.

The dorm beds cost a bit more than at a typical hostel, but I felt the value was there. Ilha Hostel is central without being noisy at night, and the new, modern building still has a cozy, welcoming feel. Everything from comfort to convenience and cleanliness has been thought through. I’d happily come back.
