The rooms are acceptable, though nothing special, and the location is handy for getting around São Miguel. The service, though, was deplorable. Sandra came into our apartment without warning to switch off the air conditioning, which really disappointed us. She lives right next door, but it felt like doing business was the only priority, not communicating with guests. There was also cigarette smoke and throat clearing followed by a big, dirty spit. If that doesn't bother you, go ahead, but I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The house was clean and inexpensive, but I never felt comfortable there. The owner was unfriendly and had no manners, making us feel unwelcome. If she doesn't want people in her house, she should choose another line of work. The street is noisy too, so light sleepers should avoid it. She wanted €20 to hold our luggage until our flight, which I think is highway robbery. Luckily, the car rental company kept it for free and was very kind. It's no surprise that most rooms were empty in the middle of August.

Sao Rock beach is just a five-minute walk away, and a taxi to the airport probably costs around €20. By bus, the trip takes a circuitous route and needs one transfer. There are only a few restaurants nearby, and they're rather basic. The place is okay, though not the best accommodation near Sandra's house. It's a five-room guesthouse with a kitchen for self-catering. Our room had its own toilet and shower, while the other rooms share a bathroom on the same floor. It seems better suited to young people, but works well for a longer stay.

It's impossible to sleep with all the noise from the rooms, and the place has an old-house smell and a ton of absurd rules. This was the worst hostel stay possible. The owner or hostess is so rude and hostile that you feel unwelcome from the start. She barely answers when you say hello, and if you ask for anything or have a question, she responds rudely. The service is horrible, and they go out of their way to make the stay unpleasant. The worst place in all of the Azores, I do not recommend it at all.
