Portimao Center Hotel by Umbral

The breakfast buffet was included, with scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, sweet rolls, and a coffee machine that makes espresso. It was better than 90% of the buffets I've had at three-star hotels in the US, and the woman looking after it was friendly and helpful. I was happily surprised by how clean and quiet the room was. The hardwood floors shone, and I slept incredibly well. This isn't a resort, and it doesn't claim to be. It's a clean, quiet, safe place to sleep, for half what you'd pay for the same in the States.

The staff were super nice and helpful, and breakfast was great. There's parking at both the front and back, as well as a small indoor pool. The room was clean overall, though it can get a bit hot in summer. AC is available. The downside for us was the hard bed, and the bathroom towels weren't changed once during our stay. I'd recommend it if you want a cheap place to sleep.

The rooms are nice, the AC works well, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is good too, especially the scrambled eggs, which beat those at the last four-star hotels I visited. But the price makes me lower my review from four stars to three. It's a good hotel, though the beach is 2.5 km away and there's no outdoor pool.

WiFi barely worked now and then, which was the one real downside. The location works well if you have a car, since parking is easy. There are a few beaches nearby, and the hotel has a pool.
