Oporto Trendy Apartments

The room was still nice, but it fell short of the lovely hotel we had left down the street. The sister property around the corner couldn't rent us an extra night that we added at the last minute, so they sent us here. This place had no elevator. There was an AC unit in the room, but no way to control it, and the staff downstairs didn't care when I asked. The sister hotel couldn't do anything either. It went from nonstop service to no-start service. The floors creaked loudly with every step, so getting up meant waking everyone.

The staff were lovely and helpful, and the building felt quiet and secure. I especially appreciated having a safe in the apartment. The main room is spacious, with a daybed and a TV that gets quite a few channels in different languages. There’s also a small balcony, which was great for cooling down and relaxing in the evening. Everything was spotless, and the kitchen utensils, glasses and dishes were all there and in good condition. They’d be handy for a longer stay, too. Check-in is just around the corner. A flawless stay, really.

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back to Porto. The apartment was clean and lovely, right in the heart of the city. One thing to know if you book through an agency like Agoda: check-in is at their office, about a five-minute walk away, so finding the apartment first can be a little confusing. Our room was on the third floor and there’s no lift, but our bags were light, so it wasn’t a big problem for us.

We shared this modern riverside duplex for two nights with another couple and our disabled son. It was clean, well placed, and had everything we needed, including a strong Wi-Fi signal. The centre and the cafés and restaurants by the river are an easy walk away. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, like sleeping on a marshmallow. I left my shaver behind, but the owner kindly posted it back to me, which was brilliant service. We’d definitely recommend staying here in Porto, and we’ll book Hugos apt again when we return.
