PILOT Design Hostel & Bar

I stayed for a weekend on a university trip with a group, so everyone in my room knew each other. The hostel's location was lovely, and I had a great time. Sharing the facilities was no problem for me. I'd definitely return if I'm in Porto again.

I planned to spend just one night at Hostel Pilot🧑‍✈️, but booked another as soon as I woke up. ❤️Pedro greeted me at reception with a smile and such charming kindness that I immediately felt the great energy of the place. At the bar, 🥰Lukisdmc😍 brought so much joy and kindness that the evening felt 🪄magical✨. In the morning I met the friendly housekeeper, 💕Daniela, who helped me with a few questions. I felt like I'd made a new friend, so I booked one more night. That evening there was a big party🎉🍻 at the bar with all the guests, and 💕Daniela really was the heart and soul of the place. I hope she's at the hostel all day long😂. 😊Bruno looked after reception during the night shift with incredible patience. I'll be back in February and hope to see everyone again. ☺️Thanks to all of you for making my experience unforgettable❤️

The staff were friendly and moved us to another room when I found bedbugs on the sheets and several dead and live ones under the mattress. The new room seemed fine, with no signs of bugs that we could find. Still, there are many other bedbug complaints on Google, TripAdvisor, and Booking, and I’m angry the hostel hasn’t dealt with this more seriously. The staff didn’t even seem surprised when we reported it. The bathrooms and showers also needed more cleaning. Our room smelled odd, the window leaked, and outside noise came through. The common areas had a great vibe, and I can see how this might have been one of the best hostels ten years ago, but the current hygiene and bedbug problems are sad. I won’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend staying until they take these issues seriously.

Right in the middle of Porto’s tourist spots and nightlife, this hostel made a great base. The rooms were tidy, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were really friendly. I’d happily recommend it to friends visiting Porto.
