Village Aparthotel by BOA

The room was clean, quiet, and smelled wonderful. The bedding, bathroom, and kitchen were all in good condition and easy to use. This adorable apartment is conveniently close to the metro, though we only took it once and mostly walked. Service was really good and accommodating. We arrived early and were checked in straight away without an extra charge. After checkout, we left our luggage in their secured room, then came back at 9pm to pick it up without any trouble. They also thoughtfully provide umbrellas in the rooms and hallway.

On our first visit to Porto, we had an amazing stay at the Village Apparthotel by Boa. Every employee was considerate and helpful, always checking that we had everything we needed. A big thank you to all of them for making our stay so special. We highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed five nights in the premium one-bedroom and it felt better than home. My husband and I both thought this was the best hotel of our 17-day trip through Spain and Portugal, in every respect. The hotel is gorgeous, and the rooms actually look better than the photos. As a former interior designer, I really appreciated the thoughtful details. The building materials were high quality, including full marble slabs with matching veins on the bathroom walls. The decor and tableware were tastefully chosen. The bed was comfortable and on the firmer side, which I liked, and the sheets were soft. We slept deeply every night. I only wish the balcony had chairs and a coffee table so we could enjoy coffee outside. Room cleaning was quick, usually done before noon. I wasn’t keen on the complimentary wine, but the Ethiopian and decaf coffee pods were delicious. I used the small gym once. It was clean and had most of the usual equipment. The front desk staff were always smiling and friendly, and seemed to enjoy their work. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the big market and main shopping street, and about 20-25 minutes to the river. The neighborhood feels very local, with older local shops alongside newer, hip restaurants and cafes.

The hotel is beautiful, with lovely design touches, and the service was incredible. It felt like a little oasis in the centre of Porto. But the bed was a major letdown for the price and the standard of the rest of the hotel. The mattress was basic and very hard, probably one of the least comfortable we’ve slept on. The pillows were among the worst too, and there were no alternatives. A heat pump or hot water boiler right beside the bed hummed loudly all night. The toilet also repeatedly failed to flush during our three-night stay, so we had to use the reception toilet. After three nights of poor sleep, we chose another hotel for the last two nights of our Porto stay. If bed comfort matters a lot to you, this may not be the place. If it matters less, the hotel is lovely, well designed, and has very friendly staff.
